Birthdays, Brothers, Batman and Baseball Players

October has a been a very costume-filled month and not only becuase of the costume-friendly holiday. We are just big on costumes even on your average day.
This is pretty typical. Bunny charges into the room wearing pajama bottoms, a Batman cape and a devious grin.
Obviously it's picture-worthy.

October/November is also a very expensive time of the year as not one but TWO of my sons have birthdays, actually only 8 days apart. We opted for low-key this year and happily our church's Fall Festival was the same evening as Birthday #1 so no one was any the wiser when we loaded up and headed there instead of having a major fete at our place. Whew!

The loyal Yanks' fan...

...and the loyal Cubs fan.

If you've never had a cookie cake, you are missing out.

It was a huge and delicious hit.

Plus I didn't bake it, so no danger of another flop like the
Great Cake Ball Fiasco of April 2010.

Afterwards, Luigi and Mario, Obi-Wan, Superman
and the 2 baseball players
lined up before going crazy at the Fall Fest.

Bonus of late-October/early-November birthdays? Costumes count as gifts.

This is a keeper.
And for the record, here's the conversation:
Me: "Will it bother you if both of your brothers are baseball players and you are not?"
Him: "No."
Me: "Are you sure? I mean, are you going to be upset?"
Him: "No."
Me: "You sure?"
Him: "Yep."
For the record, he couldn't have cared less.
This is a tiny man who knows himself well.

October has found us laughing alot and being very happy together.

All of us.

Whether we are a ninja...
a superhero...

or some version somewhere in the middle.
